PROGRAM ASSESSMENT USING COURSE-BASED ASSESSMENT

Degree in Entrepreneurial Biotechnology 

1. Goals

Students are expected to know and be aware of

• Basic methods of chemical biotechnology, analytical biochemistry, molecular biology 

• They should learn organizational development and marketing techniques

• They should get to know about biological manufacturing, and their regulations.

2. Objectives

- Knowledge of biochemistry;

- Knowledge of analytical biochemistry;

- Knowledge of marketing;

- Knowledge of biological manufacturing, formulation process and regulations; and

- Finally, they should know how to integrate information to start a new venture.

3. Outcomes Criteria

Completion of the program will be based on getting the overall grade B or upper. 

4. Assessment Methods

Include quizzes, assignments, internship, presentations and exams.

5. Time Frame

This course is designed for graduate students. For Entrepreneurial Biotechnology degree program, two terms of Graduate Research/internship (3 months) (12 credits), three core courses (3 credits each) and three elective courses (3 credits each) may count towards 30 credit requirements.

6. Who Will Do the Assessment?

The instructor will evaluate regular class work of the student. 

In research work, research should be conducted in Ayurveda or natural products. The entire research project will be completed in INADS. Although, students can perform their research in collaboration with the faculty of other institutions, but the principal advisor will be an INADS faculty. Students should begin an independent research project with one of the participating faculty no later than the one month after the start of their program. An interim evaluation will be made after each term and continuation within the degree program will depend on the satisfactory progress. Students need to present orally their research data twice in each semester, and a committee of INADS faculty will assess the progress of students. The student must complete a satisfactory thesis based on independent research. The thesis must be approved by three program members and successfully defended in an oral examination.

Students also need to prepare and submit a complete report, approved by the internship provider of their internship.  They need to make a formal presentation in front of INADS faculty and students. A final grade of internship will be based on their report, formal presentation and an oral exam.

7. Type of Feedback.

At the end of each evaluation, faculty will submit their evaluations, data will be compiled and areas of strength/weakness will be identified.

8. How data will be used to improve the program or revise curricula

The department faculty will meet to discuss the findings of the evaluation. They will prepare a report for the Chair and suggest methods for improving curricula based on the assessment.
