About This Course
The Science of Kriyayoga class explores the understanding of the self and the surrounding environment by first establishing and practicing connections between the body and mind. The course content includes an explanation of objective and practical science and examines the role of the mind in creating this essential field of study.
Students are introduced to basic scientific concepts, such as the nervous system, respiration, photosynthesis, physical and natural forces, atomic and molecular structure, and the coordinated function of cells. This information is then used to build an understanding of yoga as a practice, focusing on different body postures and breathing techniques. This practice evolves into lessons on connecting with others, including animals, plants, and the environment.
The class presents examples of the holistic functioning of atoms, molecules, cells, bodies, societies, the planet, and the universe. Students are also encouraged to critically analyze scientific facts, and they are assigned tasks that require them to evaluate literature, seminars, or other published materials on relevant topics.
